The ViewPoint Film Challenge is an exercise for director's to produce their own film based on shared dialogue from a five page script. You have until May 30th to submit your film, so download the new script now!

viewpointchallenge.com

Unique to the third challenge is a line of dialogue that is LOCKED, so no matter how you choose to interpret the dialogue, you have to find a way to make it work! Everything else can be changed as long as it fits within the rules:

1. You are allowed to remove dialogue.
2. You cannot add new lines of dialogue
3. You can move around lines.
4. You cannot move around words
or letters within the lines.
5. Be creative!

Remember that you have 30 days to complete your film, so be organized and realistic. We understand that many of you have priorities bigger than ViewPoint, so finding the time can be a struggle. However, based on our previous submissions, people have obviously found ways to fit in a shoot even at the last minute.

If you are uncertain about your project, then perhaps consider the following before you begin:

-Have pride in your work before you start.
-Really think, "Will I love this?" before filming. Shooting a film means really putting your heart into it, and asking those taking (quite often free) time to put theirs in as well. It would be a shame if your crew felt it was all for nothing.

-Don't let technicalities stop you.
-There are always problems on films, and waiting to discover the best way to shoot a story until everything is just right might make you miss the deadline. Just get out there are shoot it before time runs out. You'll likely find your creativity blooming when forced to compromise your original ideas anyway.

-Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.
-Some people want to see you fail for their own amusement. Ignore them. Your movie will blow everyone away.

-Someone might have your idea too.
-Think about it; will someone else be filming the obvious? This is a really great chance to show your identity as a director, so use it!

-Have fun!

There's no prize here other than what you felt you got out of it. This is an opportunity to try out the things you've always wanted to try out. You'll gain experience and then move on to try something new. This is your challenge!

So from all of us here at the ViewPoint Film Challenge - get out there, make a movie, and have fun!
